147.23 BUREAU OF FIRE PREVENTION DUTIES.
   (a)   It shall be the duty of the officers of the Bureau of Fire Prevention, under the supervision of the Fire Chief, to make inspections, promote safety practices, minimize fire hazards and assist in enforcing all laws and ordinances of the City and State in relation to fire prevention and fire hazards, including but not limited to the following:
      (1)   The prevention of fires;
      (2)   The storage and use of explosives and inflammables;
      (3)   The installation and maintenance of automatic and other fire alarm systems and fire extinguishing equipment;
      (4)   The maintenance and regulation of fire escapes;
      (5)   The means and adequacy of exit in case of fire, from factories, schools, hotels, lodging houses, asylums, hospitals, churches, halls, theaters, amphitheaters and all other places in which numbers of persons work, live or congregate, from time to time, for any purpose; and
      (6)   The investigation of the cause, origin and circumstances attending fires whether or not the Division of Fire has been summoned to extinguish the same.
   (b)   The members of such Bureau shall have such other powers and perform such other duties consistent with the laws of Ohio and ordinances of the City as may be conferred and imposed upon them, from time to time, by the Chief of the Bureau or the Director of Public Safety.
