There is hereby created in the unclassified (volunteer) service of the City the position of Engineer Captain. The Engineer Captain shall be well qualified to and, under the direction of the Chief Engineer, shall supervise the operation and maintenance of all fire fighting vehicles, equipment and materials, assume the duties and carry out the responsibilities of the Chief Engineer in his absence or disability, and assume such other responsibilities and perform such other duties as shall be from time to time designated or assigned by his superior officers.
