There is hereby created in the unclassified (volunteer) service of the City the position of Chief Engineer. The Chief Engineer shall be well qualified to and, under the direction of the Fire Chief, shall supervise the operation and maintenance of all fire fighting vehicles, equipment and materials, and assume such other responsibilities and perform such other duties as shall be from time to time designated or assigned by his superior officers.
