(A) Excavation work shall be:
(1) Open trench work with proper shoring unless otherwise approved by the Superintendent.
(2) In compliance with ASTM Specification C 12-58-T for pipelaying and backfill, except no backfill shall be placed until the work has been inspected. Any backfill on street locations requires sand or screening material suitably compacted.
(B) All excavations for building sewer installation shall be adequately guarded with barricades and lights so as to protect the public from hazard. Streets, sidewalks, parkways and other public property disturbed in the course of the work shall be restored in a manner satisfactory to the Superintendent, and any other governmental agency affected.
(C) No person shall excavate on city property without furnishing the city a certificate of insurance and procuring a bond as required in § 99.06.
