ADOPTING ORDINANCE

ORDINANCE NO. 2003-5169

AN ORDINANCE ENACTING AND ADOPTING A 2003 SUPPLEMENT TO THE CODE OF ORDINANCES FOR THE CITY OF MATTOON, ILLINOIS

WHEREAS, American Legal Publishing Corporation of Cincinnati, Ohio, has completed a 2003 supplement to the Code of Ordinances of the City of Mattoon, which supplement contains all ordinances of a permanent nature enacted since the prior supplement to the Code of Ordinances of this Political Subdivision; and

WHEREAS, American Legal Publishing Corporation has recommended the revision or addition of certain sections of the Code of Ordinances which are based on or make reference to sections of the Illinois Compiled Statutes; and

WHEREAS, it is the intent of the Legislative Authority of the municipality (the "City Council") to accept these updated sections in accordance with changes of the law of the State of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, the 2003 supplement contains local legislation current through Ordinance 2003-5161 passed February 16, 2003 and state legislation current through February 7, 2003; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the City Council of the City of Mattoon as follows:

Section 1. The 2003 supplement to the Code of Ordinances of the City of Mattoon as submitted by American Legal Publishing Corporation of Cincinnati, Ohio, and as, attached hereto, be and the same is hereby adopted by reference as if set out in its entirety.

Section 2. Such supplement shall be deemed published as of the day of its adoption and approval by the City Council and the City Clerk is hereby authorized and ordered to insert such supplement into the copy of the Code of Ordinances kept on file in the Office of the Clerk.

Section 3. This ordinance shall be effective upon its approval as provided by law.

Upon motion by Mayor Carter, seconded by Commissioner Schilling, adopted this 7th day of October, 2003, by a roll call vote, as follows:
