The following are hereby adopted as the curbside recycling regulations for the city.
(a) Residential collection of recyclable materials shall be provided once each week on announced days, for which containers are placed at the curb or edge of the street right-of-way. The announced days of collection shall be the same as the regularly scheduled trash collection day.
(b) The contractor shall provide and distribute each single-family residence with one, 14-gallon recycling bin. If the bin is lost or stolen, it is at the contractor’s discretion whether to charge a replacement fee to the property owner.
(c) Recyclable materials to be collected shall include, but not be limited to, newspapers, glass bottles and jars, aluminum and bi-metal beverage cans, tin food cans and all plastic #1 and #2 bottles and jars.
(d) The contractor shall transport the recovered recyclable materials to a central processing site and retain responsibility for the brokering of these materials to their respective markets, thus ensuring 100% of the recyclable materials shall be recycled. At no time shall recovered materials be disposed of in a landfill or incinerator.
