§ 909.05 FIRE HYDRANTS.
   (a)   Work included. Under this item, the contractor shall furnish all materials, labor and tools and shall furnish, place and connect to the main all fire hydrants as shown or specified or as ordered.
   (b)   Fire hydrant specifications.
      (1)   Fire hydrants shall conform to city standards and shall conform to the specifications of the American Water Works Association. The barrel of the hydrant shall have a breakable safety section just above the ground line.
      (2)   Hydrants shall have a main valve opening of four and one-half inches and shall have two, two and one-half inch hose connections and one, four-inch steamer connection, all with chained caps. Hose connections shall be threaded with National Standard Thread; steamer connections shall be five inches storz connections compatible to the City Fire Department equipment.
      (3)   Hydrants shall be fitted with an auxiliary gate valve and valve box.
      (4)   The operating nut shall open to the right and shall be a one and one-third pentagon head.
