§ 909.01 WATER MAIN EXCAVATION AND BACKFILL.
   (a)   Work included.
      (1)   All water main pipe and appurtenances shall conform with the most current editions of City of Mason Public Utilities Department Water and Sewer Construction Rules and Regulations and Standard Construction Drawings. The contractor shall make all excavation required for constructing and connecting the pipe lines including valves, valve chambers, fire hydrants and other appurtenances to the lines and grades given by the Public Utilities Director.
      (2)   Excavation and backfill shall include the loosening, excavating, loading, removing, transporting and disposing of all materials, wet or dry, necessary to be removed for the purposes of constructing the pipe lines.
   (b)   Trench excavations. Trench excavation shall include all excavation and backfill necessary for the laying of the pipe in trenches and shall be made to a depth as will permit the laying of pipe with a cover of 48 inches below the finish grade of the street or as shown on the plan.
