(a) There is hereby established the position of Engineering Technician within the Inspection and Engineering Department. The Engineering Technician shall be appointed by the City Manager and serve under the direction and supervision of the City Engineer.
(b) The prerequisite qualifications of the Engineering Technician are that the person shall possess a thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of land surveying, and of the elementary principles and practices of civil engineering. The individual shall also have considerable experience in sub-professional civil engineering work, at the level of Construction Inspector or higher.
(c) The duties and responsibilities of the Engineering Technician shall be to assist the City Engineer in the performance of the Engineer’s duties. The Engineering Technician shall also enforce city planning, construction and zoning codes.
