§ 34.27 ALCOHOL AND DRUG CONSUMPTION.
   (A)   Alcohol and drugs shall not be consumed while on duty or off duty to the extent that such consumption renders the officer unfit for duty. No alcohol shall be consumed while in uniform and no officer shall respond to an assistance call after consuming alcohol. The odor of alcohol on the breath shall be sufficient evidence of being unfit for duty. The prohibition of drug consumption shall include prescription drugs which incapacitate the officer or render him unfit for duty.
   (B)   Due to the image police officers must project to the public, officers consuming alcoholic beverages or drugs shall maintain a level of behavior which is exemplary and does not tarnish the reputation of the Police Department or fellow law enforcement officers.
   (C)   Any violation of the rules listed in this section or §§ 34.24 through 34.26 will be deemed conduct unbecoming an officer and will be dealt with accordingly.
