549.11 CARRYING WEAPONS ONTO SCHOOL OR PARK PROPERTY.
   (a)    No person shall carry, possess, store, maintain, have under his control or conceal a gas, air or spring-operated weapon, brass knuckles, cestus, billy, blackjack, knife with a blade of more than one and one-half inches, springblade knife, gravity knife, stun gun, shuriken (or throwing star), nunchukas or similar weapon, within any place in a school building or on school or park premises, including but not limited to lockers or motor vehicles operated or parked on school or park property.
   (b)   This section shall not apply to any of the following:
      (1)    To law enforcement officers authorized to carry weapons or dangerous ordnances, and acting within the scope of their duties;
      (2)    To security officers under contract with the school or park administration to provide security at or on the school or park premises;
      (3)    To an individual for use in a program approved by the school or park administration, provided, however, that in no instance shall any such weapon be loaded or shall any individual carry live ammunition for such weapon onto school or park property or premises;
      (4)    To an individual, twenty-one years of age or older, who is driving a person to or from the school or park and is transporting a firearm in a motor vehicle in compliance with the Ohio Revised Code.
   (c)    "School" means any public, parochial or private elementary or secondary educational facility.
   (d)    "Park" means any publicly dedicated property under the supervision of the Parks Division of the City and designated by the Parks Commission of the City as a park.
   (e)    Whoever violates this section is guilty of carrying weapons onto school or park property, a misdemeanor of the first degree.
