§ 50.08 TERM OF PERMIT.
   All work to be done under a permit shall be completed within 180 days from the date of issuance of the permit, or within the longer period of time as the Plumbing Inspector may specify on the permit. Upon the expiration of the period if the contractor has not already requested final inspection, the Plumbing Inspector shall inspect the work. If he or she finds that the work is not completed, he or she shall notify the contractor to complete the work within 15 days or he or she may extend the period if the cause of delay is beyond the control of the contractor. Thereafter no additional work shall be done on the irrigation/water sprinkling system unless and until a new permit has been applied for and issued. In the event any changes have been made to this subchapter prior to the issuance of the second permit, the permit shall be deemed to be issued subject to compliance with this subchapter, as revised.

§ 50.09 VIOLATIONS.
   (A)   If, upon expiration of the term of the permit, the Plumbing Inspector finds the work to be in violation of the provisions of this subchapter, he or she shall order the contractor to correct the deficiencies. If the deficiencies are not completed within 15 days, the contractor shall be required to obtain a new permit as provided above. In addition thereto, the contractor shall be subject to the penal provisions of this subchapter.
   (B)   Conviction of any violation of any provision of this subchapter shall constitute a misdemeanor.

§ 50.10 EFFECTIVE DATE.
   This subchapter shall be in full force and effect upon its passage and publication as provided by law.

§ 50.11 GUIDE FOR RESIDENTIAL LAWN IRRIGATION SYSTEMS.
   (A)   This information is a compilation of some of the standard requirements based on the State Building Code and city ordinances of projects of this type. This information does not contain all of the specific codes and should only be used as a guide. The permit holder is responsible to meet all code requirements applicable to each project.
   (B)   This guide is to help the homeowner who wishes to do his or her own installation of a lawn irrigation system.
   (C)   The following are required items for the correct installation of a lawn irrigation system:
      (1)   Plumbing permits are required for lawn irrigation systems ($25 fee);
      (2)   Tie into the water line on the house side of the meter;
      (3)   95-5 solder must be used;
      (4)   Use full flow valve ball or gate valve after the tie in, with some way of draining the line after the valve;
      (5)   Provide adequate back flow prevention with RPZ (reduced pressure zone) pressure type or atmospheric type;
      (6)   Call for an inspection after you have connected to the domestic water line and have run piping to outside with the necessary back flow prevention installed; and
      (7)   Call Gopher State One, call (800) 252-1166, 48 hours before digging begins.
   (D)   Lawn irrigation systems are an allowable use within boulevard and easement areas. Any improvement that is placed within these areas is done so at the risk of the property owner. The city is not responsible for restoration damage caused by street maintenance, drainage, and utility construction and snowplowing. Improvements, which interfere with the performance of city operations or public utilities, may be ordered for removal.
   (E)   Plumbing contractors doing the installation of the RPZ must be state licensed.
   (F)   Please call (507) 243-3507 to schedule inspections. All inspections require a 24-hour notice. Inspection hours are from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays.
