921.26 METER COUPLINGS.
A meter and brass meter couplings shall be furnished by the Service Department for every service connected to the water system. The plumber must obtain the exact overall dimensions of the meter when the couplings are obtained, and he must set the couplings the proper distance apart to accommodate the meter. Where iron pipe is used to connect with the meter, proper fittings must be used to allow for tension. All meters are to be located just inside of the wall through which the service pipe enters. In case of five-eighths (5/8) inch and three-fourths (3/4) inch meter installations, meters will be set on a small shelf about thirty inches above the floor. The service pipe is to be carried up to the meter couplings. All meters one inch and larger are to be set directly on the cellar floor. The service will be flushed, the meter set, and the meter turned on without extra charge to the consumer.
