911.402 INSTALLATION OF TAPS AND SERVICE CONNECTIONS.
   (a)    For ALL taps and water service connections, the property requesting water service shall have a contractor excavate to expose the main at the tapping location and install and test the tapping sleeve/saddle. The contractor is to schedule work twenty-four (24) hours in advance with the Water Distribution Department. Work shall be scheduled to be conducted and best to be completed between 8am and 2pm. All work performed and materials used shall be to City of Lorain Standards as well as under the direct observation of a Utilities Department, Water Distribution Sub-Department employee. Once approved, the Utilities Department shall perform the tap. Installation of all service lines and installation of the curb stop (gate box) shall be performed by the contractor per Section 911.405. A materials use list shall be provided for all items used by the contractor for the tap to city personnel on site. All restoration and traffic control shall be performed by the contractor per the specifications in the City of Lorain Engineering Department.
   (b)    A Pavement Opening Permit (Chapter 901 of Lorain Codified Ordinances) must be obtained from the Engineering Department by the contractor prior to any work being performed for the excavation of the tap and service, if pavement needs to be removed to perform work as desired.
   (c)    A Pre-Tap Meeting shall be held at least 48 hours prior to the work being performed with the Utilities Department, Water Distribution Sub-Department, unless deemed unnecessary by the Utilities Department. (Ord. 151-23. Passed 7-17-23.)
