(a) All materials from the mainline to the property shall be provided by and installed by the contractor determined by the customer and at the cost to the customer. No service line shall be installed nearer than six feet to any sewer trench horizontally and eighteen inches vertically. No water service lines shall be run so that the curb stop (gate box) will be placed in a driveway apron or sidewalk area. Exceptions shall be made on a case-by-case basis as determined by the Utilities Department.
(b) The Utilities Department shall be the only entity to maintain the water tap which shall remain the property of the City.
(c) Service Connection Charges are as follows. Service connection charges shall be established as per Ohio R.C. 743.02, 743.03 and 743.04 by the Director of Public Service. The total Service Connection Charge to be paid shall be a summation of the Labor Tap Fee and a City of Lorain Access to Water Fee. Both charges are established as herein below.

If the City is unable to perform the tap on the main, the owner is only responsible for payment of the Access to Water Fee as established herein above. If the City cannot perform the tap, a contractor with sufficient experience shall be allowed to perform the tap after approval by the Utilities Department.
(d) On all applications for tap services from a lesser size to a larger size, the new tap charge of the larger size shall be the tap charge. (Ord. 151-23. Passed 7-17-23.)
