911.221 WATER TO BE TURNED OFF AT MAIN FOR PROTECTION AND CHARGE THEREFOR.
In the case of water being turned off at the curb stop for nonpayment of bills and it is found that water service has been turned on again without authorization from the Utilities Department, or where in the opinion of the Director of Utilities, turning off the water at the curb stop is insufficient protection against unauthorized and illegal use of the water (i.e. theft), an excavation will occur and the water service will be disconnected at the water main. The owner shall pay for the labor, materials, and cost of any surface restoration (i.e. pavement, sidewalk, etc) involved in disconnecting the water service from the water main and shall pay for all associated costs that may be required in the excavation and repaving/restoration necessary when the water service is reconnected at the water main. The address and associated water account will also be charged for the cost of a new water service tap on the water main, per the charges set forth in Section 911.405 of these Codified Ordinances. Payment for such extraordinary work will not relieve the account of payment for certain other fixed charges as may accrue and as are established elsewhere in these Codified Ordinances. (Ord. 178-22. Passed 10-3-22.)
