The chief of police recommends that certain speed limits be established on streets within the corporate limits of the village, and said speed limits are therefore hereby set: (Ord. 636, 5-18-1976)
(A) It is hereby determined that the reasonable and safe absolute maximum speed is twenty five (25) miles per hour, and the maximum speed limit of twenty five (25) miles per hour is hereby set for all portions of all village streets within the corporate limits unless otherwise specified in subsection (B), (C), or (D) of this section. (B) Further, the speed limits for the following streets and alleys, or portions thereof, are hereby set as follows: (Ord. 95-2703, 11-6-1995)
1. Main Street between Route 53 and Division Street | 30 mph |
2. Main Street between Southport Avenue and Warrenville Road | 30 mph |
3. Main Street between Division Street and Southport Avenue | 20 mph |
4. College Road within the corporate limits of the village | 40 mph |
5. That alley located along the west property lines of 4712 through 4760 Main Street | 15 mph |
6. Leask Lane between Warrenville Road and the corporate limits of the village | 30 mph |
7. Benedictine Parkway | 30 mph |
8. School Street between Center Avenue and Main Street | 20 mph |

(C) No person shall drive a motor vehicle at a speed in excess of that permitted by statutes of the state, while traveling through a special school speed zone. (Ord. 89-2003, 11-6-1989)
(D) Notwithstanding any of the above, the maximum speed limit of twenty (20) miles per hour is hereby set for those streets listed as follows:
Ashford Court
Holly Court
Kindling Court
Navistar Circle
Parksleg Court
Pruthmore Court
Stonehaven Way
Trowbridge Way
Woodbriar Court
Appropriate signs giving notice of the limits set herein shall be erected in accordance with the standards set forth in the state of Illinois "Manual On Uniform Traffic Control Devices For Streets And Highways".
Any person violating any of the speed limits set by this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be subject to the penalties as provided in the applicable statutes of the state of Illinois. (Ord. 2011-4414, 11-7-2011)
