At the discretion of an officer or employee of the Lindenhurst police department violations of §§ 70.02 11-1301.3 and 71.01 through 71.04 of this title, and §§ 73.01 through 73.05 of this chapter may be settled, compromised and paid in the respective amounts set forth in the comprehensive fee schedule set forth in Section 12.02 of this code.
(A) After 72 hours of issuance and before the village has issued a notice to appear in court on this matter, the citation may be settled by payment to the village of double the amount listed for the violations as enumerated in the comprehensive fee schedule set forth in Section 12.02 of this code. However, once a notice to appear in court has been issued, the violation must be resolved in court.
(B) If an officer or employee of the Lindenhurst police department does not exercise his or her discretion as described above and instead issues a standard ticket with a court date or a notice to appear is issued after 72 hours as described in the procedure outlined above, the penalty shall be as outlined in § 10.99 of this code.
