A. Policy: It is declared to be the policy of this county to promulgate guidelines for the use of official county vehicles in Lincoln County, Nevada. (Ord. 2001-04, 10-22-2001, eff. 12-15-2001)
B. Definition: "County vehicle" means any and all vehicles owned and operated by Lincoln County and its various departments and have exempt status license plates affixed thereto.
C. Official Use Designated: All automobiles or other motor vehicles owned by the county shall be used for official county purposes only unless other use is approved in advance by the department head. Official county purposes include all uses of a motor vehicle necessary to the full and complete discharge of official duties and all uses necessarily incidental thereto.
D. Private Use Prohibited: It is unlawful for any employee of the county to use any automobile, truck or other mechanical conveyance for his own private use unless prior approval is obtained from the department head.
E. Penalties: Any violation of this chapter shall constitute malfeasance of office. A violation of any provision of this chapter is a misdemeanor and anyone found guilty of any such violation may be punished pursuant to section 1-4-1 of this code. (Ord. 2001-04, 10-22-2001, eff. 12-15-2001)
