244.29   LONGEVITY PAY.
   (A)   Each employee who has continuous service with the City exceeding the years set forth below, shall receive additional compensation over and above that provided in the basic pay plan in Section 244.25 as follows:
      (1)   Upon the completion of ten years of continuous service with the City: five hundred fifty dollars ($550.00).
      (2)   Upon the completion of fifteen years of continuous service with the City: nine hundred dollars ($900.00).
      (3)   Upon the completion of twenty years of continuous service with the City: one thousand two hundred fifty dollars ($1,250.00).
      (4)   Upon the completion of twenty-five years of continuous service with the City: one thousand six hundred dollars ($1,600.00).
   (B)   Longevity pay shall be paid as follows:
      (1)   All employees covered under subsections (a) hereof shall begin receiving their full longevity payments in December, 1987.
      (2)   Employees who become eligible for longevity payments in 1987, but prior to December 1, 1987, shall receive their full longevity payment in December, 1987.
      (3)   All employees becoming eligible for longevity payments subsequent to December 1, 1987 and any year thereafter shall receive their longevity payment the following December.
      (4)   All eligible employees who terminate employment prior to December 1 of any year shall receive as severance pay, the prorated share of their longevity pay based on the number of months completed during the year that termination occurs.
      (5)   All longevity payments, except those provided in division (b)(4) of this section shall be made by separate check with the appropriate deductions.
   (C)   This section shall not apply to employees covered under Sections 244.291 and 244.292.
