Renewal or assignment of contracts for fire protection service shall be made as in the case of original applications. Applications for renewal shall be made not less than sixty days before the expiration of the established contract. Should any real estate protected under the provisions of this chapter be sold, conveyed or transferred, it is permissible to assign the contract for fire protection to the purchaser or transferee thereof, provided that such assignment is first approved in writing by the Mayor, with the approval of the Fire Chief.
