505.02 CAPTURE AND IMPOUNDMENT; DEAD ANIMALS.
   (a)   Any dog, cat or other animal running at large in the Village may be captured and impounded by the Village. Upon impoundment, the Chief of Police or his designated agent, shall deliver such dog, cat or other animal to the Preble County Animal Shelter, where it will be held for a minimum period of seventy-two hours during which time the owner may redeem such animal at the Preble County Animal Shelter by paying those fees as established by Preble County, and obtaining, if necessary, a valid registration tag. After the minimum seventy-two hour holding period, such animal may be disposed of at the Animal Shelter.
   (b)   Any employee or agent of the Village, acting under the general direction of the Mayor, is hereby authorized to remove and dispose of any dead animal found in any public right-of-way or other public place, provided such removal and disposal is done in conformity to the law of the State and in a manner that does not inure to the benefit of any individual employee.
