(a) No person shall discharge into any natural outlet within the Village, or in any surface area under the jurisdiction of the Village, any wastewater or other polluted waters.
(b) No person shall construct or maintain any privy, privy vault, septic tank, cesspool, or other facility intended or used for the disposal of wastewater without first obtaining the required permits from the Village.
(c) No person, firm, or corporation shall discharge or cause to be discharged any storm water, groundwater, roof runoff, subsurface drainage, cooling water, or unpolluted industrial process water to any sanitary sewer.
(d) No person shall discharge into the building sanitary sewer the surface water which collects in basement or foundation excavations. If the building sanitary sewer is complete before the plumbing can be connected thereto, the builder or sewer tapper shall keep the end of the building sanitary sewer tightly closed with a plumber's plug or other watertight plug.
(e) The owner(s) of all houses, buildings, or properties used for human occupancy, employment, recreation, or other purposes, situated within the Village and abutting on any street, alley, or right of way in which there is now located or may in the future be located a public sanitary sewer of the Village, is hereby required at the owner's expense to install suitable toilet facilities therein, and to connect such facilities directly to the proper public sewer in accordance with this chapter.
(f) No person, firm, or corporation shall be permitted to connect to or discharge wastewater to the Lewisburg, sewage system unless it has been determined by the Village that there is sufficient capacity in the system to collect, convey, and treat the proposed wastewater discharge of such person, firm, or corporation.
(g) An application for sewer service for each building sewer connection must be submitted to the Village for review. The Village will issue a permit for sewer service.
(h) The size and slope of the building sewer shall be subject to the approval of the Village. Six inch diameter sewers at a minimum slope of 1/8 inch per foot are desirable from the standpoint of maintenance.
(i) The type of pipe permitted includes extra stength vitrified clay pipe, with rubber gasket joints or SDR 35 P.V.C. pipe and fittings with rubber gasket joints.
(j) The applicant for the building sewer shall notify the Village forty-eight hours in advance when the excavation for the building sewer is to begin. Excavation and installation of sanitary building sewer shall be performed by a licensed plumber, contractor or other as authorized by the Village. The connection shall be made under the supervision of an authorized representative of the Village. The installation of the building sewer shall be open trench work; no backfill shall be placed until the work has been inspected by the Village's representative. Final inspection will be done after all work has been completed.
