There shall be a City Attorney nominated by the Mayor, approved by City Council who shall serve as chief legal advisor to the City. The City Attorney shall be a member of the West Virginia Bar. The Council may provide by ordinance for the authority of the City Manager to employ, in lieu of or in addition to the City Attorney, any Assistant City Attorneys as special counsel to represent the City in connection with any legal matter or matters. The City Manager shall fix the compensation of the City Attorney.
