A. Commencing with the November 2018 general Municipal election, all members of the City Council shall be elected "by district", meaning election of one member of the City Council solely by one of the five (5) City Council districts referenced in section 1-5A-2 of this article, pursuant to Government Code section 34871(a), as may be amended from time to time.
B. The City Councilmember elected to represent a district must reside in that district and be a registered voter in that district pursuant to Government Code section 34882, as may be amended from time to time.
C. Any candidate for City Council must reside in and be a registered voter in the district in which the candidate seeks election at the time nomination papers are issued, pursuant to Elections Code section 10227, as may be amended from time to time. (Ord. 2018-01, 3-20-2018)
