After the purpose of an excavation for which a permit is required under this subchapter has been accomplished, the petitioner who has obtained the permit shall give notice to the Building Inspector that the opening is ready for the filling and pavement to be replaced; and the contractor or individual securing the permit shall proceed to replace the same as soon as possible.

All proper barricades and danger lights shall be maintained by the party to whom a permit required under this subchapter was issued until the opening has been repaired and replaced by the petitioner or his or her representative.

(A) For the purpose of this section, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
APPROVED MATERIAL. Clean sand or pea gravel to contain no more than 10% dirt by volume.
PROPER AUTHORITIES. The Board of Public Works and Safety.
(B) All cuts in paved streets must be filled with approved fill as before stated and topped out with four inches of concrete and two inches of hot-mix blacktop or six inches of concrete in cement streets.

STREET GRADES
The city shall designate some suitable and permanent point upon the courthouse in the city to calculate and ascertain the exact elevation and distance of the point above the level of the sea and permanently mark on that point by marks which cannot be erased or destroyed its distance and elevation above the level of the sea and record the location and description of the point and its distance and elevation above the level of the sea and the markings thereon in the proper records in the office of the Street Commissioner, which point, when calculated, ascertained and properly marked and recorded, shall be taken as a benchmark for the grades of all streets and alleys within the corporate limits of the city.
