(a) City Ordinance No. 598, providing for the compensation of council members at a salary of nine hundred eighty-four dollars and ninety-one cents per month, became operative during March 2007.
(b) Pursuant to Section 36516(c) of the Government Code, the compensation of council members of this city is increased to the monthly sum of one thousand and nine dollars and fifty-three cents. Pursuant to Section 36516.5 of the Government Code, the increase in compensation provided for by this amended Section 2.32.065 shall become payable to members of the city council only on and after the date upon which one or more members of the city council becomes eligible therefor, by virtue of his beginning a new term of office following the next general municipal election held in the city.
