5-1-2: CHIEF OF POLICE:
   A.   Appointment; Serve As Village Marshal: The Chief of Police shall be appointed by the President by and with the consent of the Board of Trustees. He shall also be the Village Marshal. (1989 Code)
   B.   Powers And Duties: The Chief of Police shall have the following powers and duties:
      1.   The Chief shall be in charge of the Police Department, and all members thereof shall be subject to the Chief's orders.
      2.   The Chief may make rules for the functioning of the Police Department, subject to the approval of the Board of Trustees.
      3.   The Chief may appoint to the position of Deputy Chief of Police one or more officers within the Police Department as may be specifically authorized from time to time by the Board of Trustees.
      4.   The Chief shall keep such records and make such reports of the activities of the Police Department as may be required by statute or requested by the Board of Trustees.
      5.   The Chief shall be the keeper of the Village Jail and shall have custody of all persons incarcerated therein. (Ord. 99-12-1013, 12-20-1999)
