(a) Every dwelling unit and occupiable structure shall have a minimum of two safe unobstructed means of egress leading to safe and open space at ground level unless otherwise permitted by the Building Code.
(b) Habitable spaces: Sleeping rooms - No room shall be used for sleeping unless the room is equipped with not less than one operable window or exterior door approved for emergency rescue. Where windows are provided the bottom of the window shall be not more than 44 inches above the floor. The window shall have a clear space of not less than 5.7 square feet and the minimum dimensions shall be not less than 24 inches by 20 inches. Storm windows, screens and safety guards shall be easily opened from the inside. (Ord. 68-97. Passed 4-20-1998.)
