(A) No person shall ride on any vehicle upon any portion thereof not designed or intended for the use of passengers. Except this provision shall not apply to an employee engaged in the necessary performance of his or her duty or to persons riding within truck bodies in space intended for merchandise.
(B) No driver of any vehicle shall knowingly permit any person to ride on any part of a vehicle not designated or intended for the use of passengers.
