§ 94.073  DISPOSAL OF ANIMAL CARCASSES.
   (A)   It shall be the duty of the owner of animals that die from any cause and the owner, lessee, or person in control of any land upon which any animal dies, to bury the same to a depth of at least 3 feet beneath the surface of the ground within 24 hours after knowledge of the death of said animal, or to otherwise dispose of the same in a manner approved by the animal control officer; provided, however, that no animal may be buried closer than 300 feet to any water supply intended for human consumption.
   (B)   The animal control officer or Director of Public Works, upon request of any person or otherwise, may pick up and dispose of any animal carcass within the town. When the owner of an animal, the carcass of which is disposed of by a public agency, can be identified, he or she shall be billed for the cost of the disposition.
   (C)   No person shall place or leave the carcass of any dead animal or fowl in any street, alley or lot, or allow the same to remain on his or her lot.
