§ 94.069  DISPOSITION OF UNREDEEMED ANIMALS.
   (A)   If an animal is not redeemed by the owner during the applicable period of redemption, such animal shall be disposed of according to the following provisions:
      (1)   The time for redemption shall not begin to run until the notice, defined under § 94.066 has been given or posted.
      (2)   If any animal is not redeemed, the animal control officer may turn the animal over to the Johnston County Animal Control for possible adoption or disposal.
   (B)   All proceeds derived from any redemption by the animal control officer shall be turned over to the town.  These funds will be returned to the animal control budget for future use during the current fiscal year.
   (C)   Any dog impounded which appears to be suffering from rabies or if affected with rabies shall not be redeemed by shall be turned over to Johnston County for further observation.  If it is determined that the animal is not affected with rabies, its owner must redeem the animal through Johnston County Animal Control and follow all of the county’s applicable procedures.  If determined that the animal is affected with disease, Johnston County Animal Control will destroy the animal in a humane manner.
