6.08.220: HUMANE TREATMENT:
No owner shall fail to provide his or her animal with adequate food and water, proper shelter and protection from the weather, veterinary care when needed to prevent suffering because of illness, injury or advanced age, and with humane care and treatment. No person shall beat, cruelly ill treat, torment, mutilate, overload, overwork or otherwise abuse any animal. No person shall cause or permit any dogfight, cockfight or bullfight, or other combat between animals or between animals and human beings, or train or permit to be trained, animals for such combat, provided this shall not prevent activities such as rodeos, etc. (Ord. 98-14 §1, 1998)
