13.04.170: ANTISYPHON DEVICES AND SHUTOFF VALVES:
For any new tapping of the Kamiah water system which is intended to be connected to new construction or a new place of use within the Kamiah water system, any person desiring to connect to the Kamiah water system shall, in addition to all other requirements of this code, be responsible for placing in the water service line between the city water meter and the expected place of use an antisyphon device, also known as a check valve, and in addition, a shutoff valve in that service pipeline. This requirement shall apply to all new water taps after the effective date of this section and shall thus allow the property owners to shut off service to their particular place of use independent of any change in the metering device. This section shall in no way alter the noninterference provisions with the water system otherwise appearing in this code. All materials used for a shutoff valve and the antisyphon device shall be of a quality approved by the Kamiah water superintendent.
The owner of any property desiring to tap into the Kamiah water system for fire flow purposes shall pay a hookup fee and for the water service line to said property including parts and labor of city maintenance necessary to hook up said line. All fees shall be set by resolution of the Kamiah city council. (Ord. 2010-6 §1, 2010)
