(a) Deletions. The following section of the International Property Maintenance Code, as adopted herein, is hereby deleted in its entirety:
SECTION 111, MEANS OF APPEAL.
303.19 APPROVED MEANS OF EGRESS.
(b) Revisions. The following sections of the International Property Maintenance Code, as adopted herein, are hereby revised to read as follows:
Section 304.14 Insect screens. During the period form May 1 through September 30, every door, window and outside opening required for ventilation of habitable rooms, food preparation areas, food service areas, or any areas where products to be included or utilized in food for human consumption are processed, manufactured, packaged or stored, shall be supplied with approved tightly fitting screens of not less than 16 mesh per inch (12 mesh per 25 mm) and every swinging door shall have a self-closing device in good working condition.
Exception: Screens shall not be required where other approved means such as air curtains or insect repellant fans are employed.
Section 602.3 Heat supply. Every owner and operator of any building who rents, leases or lets one or more dwelling unit, rooming unit, dormitory or guestroom on terms, either expressed or implied, to furnish heat to occupants thereof shall supply heat during the period from September 15, to April 15 to maintain a temperature of not less than 68 degrees F in all habitable rooms, bathrooms and toilet rooms.

Section 602.4 Occupiable work spaces. Indoor occupiable work spaces shall be supplied with heat during the period from September 15 to April 15 to maintain a temperature not less than 68 degrees F during the period the spaces are occupied.

(c) Additions. The following sections are hereby added to the International Property Maintenance Code, as adopted herein.
Section 702.5 Number of Exists: In nonresidential buildings, every occupied story more than six stories above grade shall be provided with not less than two independent exists. In residential buildings, every story exceeding two stories above grade shall be provided with not less than two independent exists. In stories where more than one exist is required, all occupants shall have access to at lease two exists. Every occupied story which is both totally below grade and greater than 2,000 square feet (186 m2) shall be provided with not less than two independent exists.
Exceptions: A single exist is acceptable under any one of the following conditions:
1. Where the building is equipped throughout with an automatic sprinkler system and an automatic fire detection system with smoke detectors located in all corridors, lobbies and common areas.
2. Where the building is equipped throughout with an automatic fire detection system and the exit is an approved smokeproof enclosure or pressurized stair-way.
3. Where an existing fire escape conforming to the building code is provided in addition to the single exist.
4. Where permitted by the building code.

Section 702.6 Approved means of egress: Every dwelling unit shall have one or more approved means of egress, with a minimum head room of six feet, six inches, leading to safe and open space at ground level, and every dwelling unit in a multiple dwelling shall have immediate access to two or more approved means of egress, with a minimum head room of six feet, six inches, leading to safe and open space at ground level.
