614.43 DUTY OF ANIMAL CONTROL OFFICER/DOG WARDEN.
   (a)    It shall be the duty of the Animal Control Officer/Dog Warden finding an animal in imminent danger due to maltreatment or abuse, lack of basic care, lack of adequate shelter, improperly tethered, or suffering any of the cruelties of this subchapter, to remove the animal and impound it in the City Kennel or its authorized agent for humane treatment at the expense of the owner.
   (b)   When, in the judgment of the Animal Control Officer/Dog Warden, any animal should be destroyed for humane reasons, the owner may not redeem the animal, but if the owner desires, it may be released into the custody of a veterinarian. The owner shall be responsible for any fees charged by a veterinarian.
