(a) The property owner within the Village limits is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the private service lateral from the building structure to the Village sewer main including the wye pipe connection or tee connection at the sewer main. The Village is responsible for the proper maintenance and operation of the main sewer lines, manholes, pump stations and the wastewater treatment facilities. The Village is not responsible for any sewer backups that are on the service or the main lines and that are under the definition of “Acts of God”, as set forth in subsection (b) hereof.
(b) “Acts of God” shall be defined for purposes of this section as follows: heavy rainfall, debris blockage, tree root intrusion, water line ruptures, unknown storm sewer cross connections, and similar events. (Ord. 19-2017. Passed 5-2-17.)
