6-8-1: CONTRACT TO TOW; AUTHORIZATION; FEES AND COSTS:
   A.   The county, through its sheriff's office, shall contract with a towing company (hereinafter referred to as "towing company") located within the area of the county for the purpose of towing vehicles pursuant to this chapter. The contract shall designate the maximum tow and per day storage fee allowed to be charged for a tow and subsequent storage pursuant to this chapter.
   B.   The towing company shall only be authorized to tow a vehicle pursuant to this chapter upon written request of the office of the sheriff.
   C.   The sheriff's office shall only authorize the towing of a vehicle upon confirmation that the registered owner of the vehicle has committed a traffic offense that requires that person being arrested and taken into custody by the county sheriff's office.
   D.   Upon performing an authorized tow, the towing company shall have a lien against the towed vehicle for the amount of the towing fee and storage costs not to exceed ninety (90) days.
   E.   The sheriff's office shall assess a one hundred dollar ($100.00) administrative fee for each vehicle towed. (Ord., 7-10-2007)
