5-2-18: INFECTED EMPLOYEES:
   A.   When the regulatory authority has reasonable cause to suspect possible disease transmission by an employee of a food establishment, it may secure morbidity history of the suspected employee or make any other investigation as indicated and shall take appropriate action:
      1.   The immediate exclusion of the employee from employment in a food establishment.
      2.   The immediate closing of the food establishment involved until, in the opinion of the regulatory authority, no further danger of disease outbreak exists.
      3.   Restriction of the employee's work duties to some area of the food establishment where there would be no danger of transmitting disease.
      4.   Adequate medical and laboratory examinations of the employee and of other employees and of his and their bodily discharges.
   B.   Food establishments shall have a written employee health policy to ensure that management, food employees, and conditional employees understand their responsibilities as it relates to reporting illness.
      1.   Food employees and conditional employees shall report symptoms or diagnosis with an illness of a disease that is transmissible through food or exposure to food or a condition that could put food or employees at risk.
      2.   Management shall take appropriate action to exclude, restrict and/or monitor food employees once the aforementioned conditions have been brought to their attention.
      3.   Management shall adhere to orders given by the regulatory authority during all aspects of an outbreak investigation and adhere to all recommendations provided to stop the outbreak from continuing.
   C.   A food establishment shall have written procedures in place relating to the specific actions employees must take in response to vomiting or diarrheal events that involve discharge onto surfaces in the food establishment. (Ord. 2018-10, 10-9-2018, eff. 12-1-2018)
