4.04 Department of Law.
   The City Solicitor shall be admitted to the practice of law in the State of Ohio and shall be appointed at the organizational meeting of Council. He may be removed by the affirmative vote of four members of Council. He shall serve the Mayor, Council, the administrative departments and officers, boards and commissions of the Municipality as legal counsel in connection with Municipal affairs, and, subject to the direction of the Council, shall represent the Municipality in all proceedings in court or before any administrative board or body. He shall perform such other duties, consistent with his office, as may be required by this Charter or by ordinance or resolution of the Council.
   Council shall also appoint a City Prosecutor who shall be appointed and removed as provided for the City Solicitor. The City Prosecutor shall perform all such prosecutorial duties as arise within the Ironton Municipal Court’s jurisdiction and such other duties as may from time to time be assigned by Charter, ordinance or resolution of the Council.
   The City Solicitor shall not be required to serve as the attorney to the Ironton City School Board as discussed in R.C. 3313.35.
