10-10-9: IMPOUNDING:
   A.   It shall be the duty of the Chief of Police or other police officer to capture and impound any stray dog in one or more pounds to be designated by the Village. Such police officer is authorized to enter upon private property for the purpose of enforcing the provisions of this Chapter but shall not enter into any residence without permission or a warrant.
   B.   The Chief of Police shall notify the owner of any dog so taken, if the name of the owner is ascertained, and the owner shall be permitted to redeem the dog within five (5) days, by paying all license and other fees and charges then due upon said dog, including the minimum fines as provided for under this Chapter, provided however, that such owner may elect not to pay the minimum fine as hereinafter provided, but shall then be arrested or issued a citation for a violation of this Chapter and upon his or her conviction for such violation shall thereupon pay not less than the minimum fine as hereinafter set forth.
   C.   Should no redemption be made of any dog thus impounded, it shall be the duty of the poundkeeper to euthanize such dog so unredeemed at the end of the fifth day.
