A. The following systems are approved for private sewage disposal when designed, constructed, operated, and maintained in accordance with this chapter:
1. Septic tank followed by:
a. A gravel subsurface seepage field;
b. An infiltration chamber system;
c. Mound system, design in accordance with the private sewage mound code.
2. Aerobic treatment plant and NSF International/ANSI standard 40 wastewater treatment system followed by:
a. A gravel subsurface seepage field;
b. An infiltration chamber system;
c. Mound system, designed in accordance with the private sewage mound code;
d. Seepage beds, when used to repair a failing system.
3. Any other system for which a variance in accordance with subsection 9-4-5L of this chapter has been issued or for which an experimental permit in accordance with section 905.20(m) has been issued.
4. An NSF standard 350 certified system utilizing membrane technology as approved by the department. System will be approved provided that there are adequate provisions incorporated into the design to accommodate a one hundred percent (100%) expansion of the system above the manufacturer's design recommendations.
