§ 117.74 PERMITS.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any person, firm or corporation to install, alter, maintain, service or repair electrical equipment in or on any building, structure or part thereof, or on premises, or cause or permit therein or thereon the installation, altering, maintaining, servicing or repairing of any electrical equipment without a permit having been obtained wherefore as provided herein. Nothing in this section shall be considered as applying to any person engaged in repairing and maintaining electrical appliances.
   (B)   Permits shall be issued only to (B)(1) through (4) of this section:
      (1)   Licensed electrical contractors.
      (2)   Licensed fire alarm contractors.
      (3)   Licensed sign specialty contractors.
      (4)   A bona fide owner of a single-family residence which is, or will be on completion, his or her own place of residence, and no part of which is used for rental or commercial purposes nor is now contemplated for such purpose, provided that the owner applies for and secures a permit, pays the fee, does the work himself/herself in accordance with the provisions hereof, applies for inspections and receives approval thereof. Failure to comply with these requirements will subject the owner's permit to cancellation.
