§ 92.46  NEWLY CONSTRUCTED DWELLINGS; SMOKE DETECTORS REQUIRED.
   (A)   Every newly constructed single or multiple dwelling unit shall be provided with smoke detectors capable of sensing visible or invisible products of combustion. A minimum of one smoke detector shall be located in each of the following areas:
      (1)   In each apartment, suite or sleeping area;
      (2)   In the basement at the head of the landing leading to the ground level floor; and
      (3)   Any other areas of the dwelling which, by reason of the dwelling layout, would not be protected by detectors located in division (A)(1) or (2) of this section. 
   (B)   Detectors shall be controlled either electrically or by battery. The electrical type of detector shall be electronically wired and connected to any lighting circuit.
