(A) A mechanically operated garbage grinder will operate with water flowing into the grinder and through the sink drain line and will discharge wastes at a reasonably uniform rate, in fluid form, which will flow readily through an approved trap, drain line or soil line in a manner which will prevent clogging or stoppage of drain line.
(B) A mechanically operated garbage grinder will be of such construction and have such operation characteristics that at least 40% of all materials discharged from it shall pass a No. 8 sieve, at least 65% will pass a No. 3 sieve, and 100% will pass a half-inch screen. A mechanically operated garbage grinder will be self-scouring, with no fouling surfaces to cause objectionable odors, and must be free from electrical or mechanical hazards.
(C) The sufficiency of the designs of the said mechanically operated garbage grinder shall meet with the requirements of the City Department of Public Works, and the entire installation of the mechanically operated garbage grinder shall comply in all particulars with provisions of the plumbing and electrical codes of the city, and it shall be connected to the drain in compliance with the plumbing code and be free from any cross connection.
