144.01 ESTABLISHMENT; PURPOSES; COMPOSITION.

   A Department of Buildings is hereby established within the Municipality. Its object and purpose shall be the supervision and inspection of buildings and the administration and enforcement of Part Thirteen of the Codified Ordinances, such part being known as the Building Code, and the administration and enforcement of all other laws and ordinances relating to the creation, construction, alteration, repair, removal and safety of buildings, structures and improvements and appurtenances thereto. The Department shall be composed of one full-time Building Commissioner and such assistant commissioners, part-time commissioners and other full or part-time employees as are authorized for payment by Council.
