143.16 PARAMEDIC CERTIFICATION.
(a) All candidates for firefighter/paramedic position shall successfully complete a paramedic course and obtain a paramedic certification from the State prior to the original appointment. Thereafter, they shall, at all times, maintain a current paramedic certification under the laws of the State that govern such certifications, including any continuing education. Failure to maintain current paramedic certification throughout the individual’s period of employment shall be considered an act of nonfeasance in office and grounds for disciplinary action under Ohio R.C. 124.34.
(b) Subsection (a) hereof shall apply to all firefighter/paramedics and fire lieutenant/paramedics who are appointed after the effective date of this section.
