   143.14 POLICE CHIEF'S DUTIES AT FIRE.
   It is hereby made the special duty of the Chief of Police or police officer in charge, and such other peace officers as are on duty at the time, to respond to all fire alarms and assist the Fire Department in the protection of life and property and in controlling and regulating traffic and maintaining order.
