The Mayor shall be elected for a term of four (4) years commencing on the first day of January after his or her election. No person shall serve as Mayor for more than two (2) consecutive terms of office. Terms shall be considered consecutive unless separated by a period of four (4) or more years. Only terms beginning on or after January 1, 2004 shall be considered in determining an individual's ability to hold office.
