636.21 UNLAWFUL DISCRIMINATION; EXEMPTION FROM COUNTY ORDINANCE.
   (a)   Pursuant to Article I, Powers, of the Charter of the City of Independence; and Article I, Corporate Powers, Rights and Privileges, of the Charter of Cuyahoga County, specifically Section 1.02, Powers Limited, all Persons within the City are hereby exempt from CC O2018-0009, enacting Chapter 206.13 - Commission on Human Rights and Title 15: Unlawful Discrimination of Cuyahoga County Code.
            (b)   The City reaffirms its commitment to a community free from discrimination through the enforcement of all federal, state and municipal laws prohibiting discrimination, including but not limited to, discrimination based upon homosexuality which was found unlawful by the United States Supreme Court in Obergefell v. Hodges, 135 S. Ct. 2071 (2015), and any unlawful discriminatory practices because of someone's race, color, religion, sex, military status, national origin, disability, age, or ancestry, as set forth in Ohio Revised Code Section 4112.02.
